Introduction

This is my very first blog post. I do not intend this blog to focus on any specific area of inquiry, but to rather constitute a growing variety of thoughts, ruminations and commentary that I find important enough to broadcast publically but not eloquently enough worded to have found publication in more official media.

Also, two explanations are in order: the name change and the awful delay. I apologize for the delay in using this blog since creating it in early August. Various projects monopolized my attention. Those projects have since been replaced with even more projects, but, thankfully, this blog is one of them. As to the name change, I am committed to redefining "passionate". The dictionary definitions force it to imply an unjustified or emotionally-fueled drive for something (its given synonyms include "zealous", "ardent" and "fervent"). Yet, I think this word more than those others could easily be broadened to mean much more than that and I see no reason why one couldn't be exuberant about promoting a worldview fueled by science and reason. So I intend a redefinition of this term. "Atheist" was replaced by "rationalist" again for purposes of broadening since I felt I was far more passionate about the entirely of rationalism and all it stood for rather than about my lack of belief in a diety, one of many personal positions that define who I am. Also, "Passionate Rationalist" are two words that share enough letters that they enjoy a sort of poetic ring. In any case, I am committed to this now and look forward to sharing with you the various politically incorrect musings of this passionate rationalist.
